CNTE Deploys Hybrid Solar and Energy Storage Solution for Off-Grid Salmon Farm in Chile

May 12, 2026 By cntepower

Chile — Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy (CNTE), a global provider of integrated energy storage solutions invested by CATL, has successfully deployed a hybrid solar and battery energy storage solution for an offshore salmon farm in Chile, supporting more sustainable and reliable operations in remote aquaculture environments.

Located in the remote southern fjords and coastal regions of Chile, many salmon farms operate far beyond the reach of the national power grid and traditionally depend on diesel generators for daily operations. While diesel generation provides basic energy supply, it also creates challenges including high fuel costs, intensive maintenance requirements, and increased carbon emissions.

To address these issues, CNTE delivered an integrated off-grid hybrid energy solution combining a 40kWp photovoltaic (PV) system with the STAR-Q 50kW/109kWh hybrid battery energy storage system (BESS). The project provides stable and continuous power for critical aquaculture equipment, including feeding systems essential to daily farm operations.

By integrating solar generation with advanced energy storage technology, the system significantly reduces diesel fuel consumption and lowers ongoing maintenance costs. The hybrid solution also improves energy independence for remote offshore facilities, helping ensure reliable power availability under challenging environmental conditions.

The deployment demonstrates the growing role of hybrid PV and battery storage systems in transforming off-grid industrial applications across Latin America. In sectors such as aquaculture, where operational continuity and energy efficiency are critical, renewable energy and storage technologies are becoming increasingly important for reducing operating costs and supporting long-term sustainability goals.

CNTE’s STAR-Q hybrid ESS integrates advanced battery technology, intelligent energy management, and high-safety system architecture to support stable operation in remote and demanding environments. Its compact and flexible design enables efficient deployment across a wide range of off-grid commercial and industrial applications.

The Chile project further highlights CNTE’s capability to deliver customized clean energy solutions tailored to real-world operational challenges, helping customers improve energy reliability while reducing environmental impact.
